Spring has arrived in the northern hemisphere, bringing warmer weather, lighter mornings and colourful flowers. It also brings the opportunity to introduce some new seasonal activities into the classroom. We’ve selected some springtime activities to help young learners practise and develop their English vocabulary.
Planting seeds
Spring is the perfect time to plant seeds. Our first activity is taken from Activities for Very Young Learners, by Herbert Puchta and Karen Elliot and will help 3-7 year olds to learn about plants and what they need to survive, while developing and practising their related vocabulary.

The second activity also comes from Activities for Very Young Learners. It gives 4-7 year olds the chance to get creative, while practising shapes, colours and flowers.

Easter worksheets
These Easter-themed activities are taken from Kid’s Box Level 1, Teacher’s Resource Book with Online Audio, Second Edition, which was written by Caroline Nixon and Michael Tomlinson to help children prepare for Cambridge Assessment English young learners exams. They help to explain the origins and traditions of the festival and teach young learners some Easter words.
