You may have followed the competition held late last year to find the 5 presenters of our new YouTube channel, Learn English with Cambridge. The channel has been set up for learners looking for some additional help in learning English and for teachers to supplement lessons. Today, we are launching the channel, so read on to find out what has happened since the competition, and to see our presenters’ first videos.
We began our search for ELT teachers to be presenters of our new YouTube channel by asking for a 2 minute video lesson submission. After receiving a huge 700 entries in to the competition, our panel whittled them down to a top 10, based on their content and experience. The final 10 went in to a world-wide public vote, where nearly 5,000 people voted for their favourite presenter, and we were able to announce who the faces of our YouTube channel would be – Greg, Maria, George, Andres and Rebecca.
Greg
“Quite simply, it´s a huge honour to have been chosen as one of the first presenters. I hope my energetic and passionate style will inspire viewers. Above all, I want to raise people’s awareness and interest in real-world English and how it can be so different to the English we learn in a classroom in that it is constantly moving and evolving.”
Maria
“This is an incredible opportunity and definitely a meaningful experience so I feel really lucky, excited and happy to be part of the team as a presenter on the channel. I am looking forward to sharing ideas and knowledge in the most creative and funny ways; I really want people to enjoy visiting the channel and I hope that EFL teachers find it useful for their lessons. I am seriously pumped about the launch, I just cannot wait for all of you to watch the videos we have made with great enthusiasm.”
George
“I feel incredibly lucky to be one of the presenters on the Learn English with Cambridge YouTube channel. I’m looking forward to making fun and informative videos for people around the world to study English with and I can’t wait to watch the other presenters’ videos too! I hope I can bring some humour and a sense of fun to my videos whilst highlighting the various nuances of the English language.”

“I’m so grateful and excited to have this opportunity. I really love teaching and videos and to do them together is a dream come true. I hope I can help people learn and fall in love with English as I did. I’m looking forward to interacting with viewers and understanding their difficulties in acquiring a language. I’m sure I’ll bring relevant content in an interesting way so people can learn and have fun at the same time.”
Andres
“I hope this channel becomes so successful that more people get interested in learning English, and it shows them a fun way to get in touch with the language. I have to admit I can’t wait for the launch of the channel and to watch all of the videos. The content that I will be teaching is relevant for many learners; topics such as “how to prepare for an exam” or “how to start a conversation” are always of great interest.
Since the presenters were chosen, Greg, Maria, George and Andres have visited Cambridge, where they met each other, received their filming equipment, and undertook training on video production and editing techniques. As you will see from Rebecca’s introductory video on the channel, she had a very special reason for not coming to Cambridge with the other presenters, but she visited our Sao Paulo team in Brazil instead.
Following their training, the presenters have been eager to get started on their videos.
