Keeping what matters: What we can learn from the neuroscience of learning with Curtis Kelly
Getting the body moving and getting blood flow up makes people think better and learn better.
Teaching in the classroom is a world away from teaching online. During 2020 teachers have had to shift how they teach and removing the physical classroom has also removed the reason to move. In this talk, Curtis talks about zoom fatigue, blood flow, and how interaction and movement has an impact on how we feel during and after teaching. Through examining the neuroscience of learning, Curtis explains the ideas around the social brain, emotion and predictive processing.

Together we thrive: How to build supportive teacher learning communities with Silvana Richardson
To what extent did we succeed in re-creating the ‘spaces of togetherness’ we usually have in virtual staffrooms?
How can we offer teachers support and solace in the midst of so much uncertainty? Silvana gives a personal attempt to answer this question. By looking at the impact of COVID on school communities and teacher wellbeing, Silvana finds the answer in how to build and teacher communities.

How to nurture independent learners through pedagogic partnerships with Harry Kuchah Kuchah
Technology doesn’t teach, teachers do. So technology is not the answer.
Traditionally there has been a focus on the role the teacher plays to enable learners to feel engaged. Harry explains how teachers are not the only important role in the classroom.
By building pedagogic partnerships with students they can develop their sense of agency and autonomy. Students can grow from being partners with the teacher to being autonomous learners in challenging times like these.
